The Red Bull Ring in the Styrian Mountains are the picturesque backdrop for the 8th and final Red Bull Air Race this year!
There are two training sessions scheduled for today, morning and afternoon. Kirby feels like there are many challenges to this course, the harder the course is, the better he tends to perform. In the first training session, Kirby had the third fastest time with Hannes and Nigel in front. The second training session proved more difficult as the pilots were getting use to the track, Kirby posting the 8th fastest time.
Kirby has been on the podium at least once in all nine seasons that he has raced, until 2014, making this an unprecedented year. Kirby has been one of the most successful pilots in the sport’s history, making this year a frustrating one for Team Chambliss.
Keeping the mood positive, but looking ahead, Kirby says, “Maybe we can turn it around this week. We are looking forward to 2015.” Kirby continued, ” We will be looking at everything, and making the necessary changes.”
