NEW YORK CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF AVIATION ENTERTAINMENT IN THE USA WITH RACE PILOTS AND DIGNITARIES IN TIMES SQUARE

New York & New Jersey welcome the Red Bull Air Race World Championship motorsports competition and other aviation spectator experiences to the metro area this Summer

  • WHAT: In January of 1910, the city of Los Angeles hosted the first aviation exhibition including air races and air show performances to a crowd of 250,000 fans. That fall, subsequent cities attracted crowds for similar stages in Boston, College Park, Maryland; and Belmont Park, New York.

A century later, in 2010, New York will again host three major aviation events:

  • New York Air Show at Jones Beach (May 29 & 30)
  • First-ever East coast Red Bull Air Race World Championship motorsport over the Hudson River (June 19-20) – TICKETS ON SALE NOW at www.redbullairrace.com
  • Coney Island’s first-ever air show in Brooklyn (Aug. 28-29)

The Times Square event will feature an exclusive first-look media opportunity: experience the history of air racing on a private guided tour with one of 15 Red Bull Air Race pilots as they walk through an interactive “channel through time” exhibit where wind resistance, historical photographs, gaming and viewing stations will be on display. The exhibit will be free and open to the public for the remainder of the day.
