RED BULL AIR RACE ABU DHABI: PREFLIGHT

The 2017 air race season is officially here, and boy, does it feel good to be back! A lot of preparations and an eleven-hour time difference brings the team to Abu Dhabi two weeks prior to race day. And while we’ve all been struggling with the time zone adjustment, we couldn’t keep our feet off the ground during jet-lag compensation day!

Our team took a visit to the SpaceWalk wind tunnel, where members of Team Goulian, Matthias Dolderer, and Kevin Coleman joined us. We all had a blast watching Micheal Goulian and his mechanic, Warren Culliers, take their first flight in the tunnel. We think they’re hooked!

Work day one was consumed with TV broadcasting preparations – photo shoots and green box filming… which sounds a bit easier than it actually is! With many lines in a short amount of time, bloopers are bound to happen! Lucky for us, Kirby’s a great sport!! Visit our Facebook Page to enjoy a small segment of our blooper reel!

Most of the pre-race festivities scheduled for day two were canceled due to weather… high winds and cold air didn’t provide the right conditions for our annual SWET (Shallow Water Egress Training) session! Swimming pool + 65 degree weather = No Fun!

In other news, Jason has 14KN back together, new mods and all! A lot of hard work was put in during the off season and we’re ready to put our mods to the test! While we’ve enjoyed catching up with all of our friends and fellow team mates the last few days, our focus now shifts to the sky as flying sessions begin tomorrow!
