RED BULL AIR RACE ABU DHABI: RACE DAY

P-20170211-00392_News

After a busy week of ups and downs, placing third in Qualifying had our team in high spirits! During the head-to-head matchup against Francois Le Vot, we watched as Kirby’s gain continued to grow. But a 2-second penalty for “climbing in the gate” put an end to our race in the Round of 14.

“We went out with a good plan. My team has been working really hard and doing their job. Unfortunately, I didn’t do mine on the track today. I knew I needed to be light on the G [in the vertical turn maneuver], but I must have started pulling just a little too early. To say we’re disappointed would be an understatement, but we’re ready to get back out there and fight again,” shares Kirby.

While the mood of the hangar may be a little glum, it’s only one race into the 2017 season and we’re not going to let this keep us down! The advice from tactician, Paulo Iscold? “Let’s do whatever we can to put this out of our minds and move on to the next race!”

The Red Bull Air Race will resume April 15th and 16th in San Diego, California.
