Our team couldn’t be more excited to share a 1st place finish in Budapest! Marking the halfway point of the season, there was no better time to take a significant leap in the overall World Championship standings, moving from ninth to fourth position.

“The track was redesigned this year, and we really struggled to find the right line with the changing winds. We weren’t always the fastest, so I wasn’t sure that my time was going to hold in the final four,” says Kirby.

But from training through to each round on race day, we continued to improve our performance. Kirby’s best time all week of 1:00:632 resulted in the first place finish.

“I’m loving the way the champagne smells, I was almost forgetting what it was like!” jokes Kirby. “This was perfect timing for a win and just the momentum our team needed to finish out the last half of the season.”

The Red Bull Air Race will resume its fifth stop of the 2017 season July 22-23 in Kazan, Russia.
