RED BULL AIR RACE CHIBA: PRE-RACE

Team Chambliss is excited to be back in Chiba for a fourth consecutive year! The support here has always been wonderful, and this year is no exception. With a condensed race week, the weekend is going to be action packed!

Two test flights and one practice session in the track provided a busy day flying on Friday. The results of the practice session showed us a little over one second off the pace, but tactician Paulo Iscold doesn’t seem to be worried.

“Our line was pretty conservative in the first training. The wind was strong, blowing towards the shore, and I think some pilots took advantage of that in turn number seven. The winds should be different on Qualifying day and I think that will affect the times that we see. This track is going to require a lot of risk for a fast time, but if you can do it, you’ll be very fast,” explains Paulo.

“Our main objective here is to fly clean with no penalties, because that’s what knocked us out in the Round of 8 at Cannes,” Kirby states. “The fact that we’ve done well here before is a good feeling, but we can’t allow ourselves to relax any.”

Unlike most races, Qualifying day will consist of two additional practice sessions in preparation for the Qualifying round. We’re hoping to see the success we saw in 2016 and end the weekend on top of the podium!
