RED BULL AIR RACE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 TAKES OFF IN ABU DHABI

ABU DHABI – For the sixth consecutive year, veteran race pilot Kirby Chambliss and team are in Abu Dhabi preparing for the opening of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship season on March 26th and 27th.

“As a team we’re confident in what we’ve done during the off season to prepare and are ready to get out there and let the plane do the talking. Every year the first race is critical in gauging the competition. It’s a guessing game because you’re not sure what other teams are running or how modifications you’ve made will stack up,” said Chambliss.

The race in Abu Dhabi signals a six-month long battle for championship points in the first of eight races on a total of five continents. With limited opportunities to compete, each race presents points that are crucial in deciding the next Red Bull Air Race World Champion.

“This year we’re looking to be a strong challenger for the title from the very beginning. In 2009, we had a strong finish but a slow start with all of our engine troubles. Consistency is the key to success in this sport and it’s something we’re focusing on for the upcoming year.”
