QUALIFYING DAY, RED BULL AIR RACE, AUSTRIA 2014!

This was a day of ups and downs for Team Chambliss! The last training session began early afternoon with Kirby trying some new lines, incurring six seconds of penalties, leaving him in 12th for the training session. Kirby feeling like a different angle might lead to a faster time, ultimately choosing to go back to the original plan.

Qualifying came up quick and Kirby was second to fly. In Quali the pilots get two runs through the track and use the best of the two times. Kirby’s best time 57.642 on his second run, hedging by Mike Goulian who ran a 57.660. The first position was secured by Austrian Hannes Arch at 55.545, followed by Matthias Dolderer, Martin Sonka and Nigel Lamb.

It was a crisp, sunny day in the Styrian Mountains, the views stunning. We are expecting more of the same tomorrow in this incredible alpine venue! Kirby’s scheduled to go head to head with Matt Hall in the second heat, nothing less than electrifying!
